The International Baha’i Community reported the arrests.

According to the report, officials from the local branch of the Ministry of Intelligence raided the homes of Maral Roshani, Nigar Badii, Shima Sanaei, Fakhireh Zahedi, and Sorayya Manouchehri, conducted searches, and transferred them to detention facilities.

Two of those arrested were temporarily released on bail after several hours of questioning, while Shima Sanaei, Fakhireh Zahedi, and Sorayya Manouchehri were taken to a security detention facility. No information has been provided regarding the charges against the Baha’i women or the reasons for their arrests.

It should be noted that although more than 300,000 Baha’is currently live in Iran, the Iranian Constitution does not officially recognize the Baha’i Faith. According to a decision by Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, members of the Baha’i Faith are considered people without citizenship rights in the country.
