According to the report, Ratcliffe told Russian officials that Washington wanted Moscow to halt the transfer of weapons and defense-related technology to Tehran.
Politico reported that Russia has supplied Iran with equipment that could enhance its drone capabilities and may be assisting Tehran in identifying targets for attacks on US facilities in the Middle East.
Ratcliffe made the rare, previously undisclosed trip to Moscow on Tuesday. The CIA director also reportedly warned Russian officials against further escalating tensions with NATO members, particularly Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
