The Baha’i International Community reported the arrests.

During the arrests, the homes of Baha’is were searched, personal belongings were confiscated, and the individuals were reportedly subjected to violence.

Simin Fahandej, the representative of the Baha’i International Community to the United Nations in Geneva, described the confiscation of Baha’i citizens’ property as “daylight state robbery.”

Fahandej also called on the Iranian authorities to end the confiscation of property, assets and equipment used by Baha’i citizens to support their livelihoods, and to provide affected families with effective legal remedies and opportunities to recover their confiscated property.

It should be noted that more than 300,000 Baha’is currently live in Iran, although the Iranian Constitution does not officially recognize the Baha’i faith. Under a decision by Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, members of the Baha’i faith are considered to have no citizenship rights in the country.
