Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will confront vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without prior coordination, Iranian lawmaker Esmail Kosari said on Tuesday.
Kosari, a member of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said control and command of the strategic waterway are fully under the IRGC’s authority.
“If they attempt to send ships through without coordination, they will be confronted,” he said.
Kosari also dismissed any mediation efforts involving Pakistan’s military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir.
“Asim Munir and people like him come and go,” Kosari said, adding that those expecting the United States — referred to by Iran as the “Great Satan” — to change its approach would be mistaken.
