Political prisoner Ali Zarei Duzderesi, who lost one of his eyes during the protests that began in September 2022, has been sentenced to death in Iran.
Human rights organizations reported the development.
According to the reports, Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court convicted him on charges including “spreading corruption on earth,” “producing false news,” “propaganda against the government,” “disrupting security,” and “illegal entry into the country.”
The 27-year-old Ali Zarei Duzderesi left for Germany following the 2022 protests. He was arrested in Tehran on April 28 of this year after returning to Iran. After being interrogated for a period in a detention center, he was transferred to Karaj’s Ghezel Hesar Prison on June 30.
