Five More Baha’is Arrested in Karaj

Five more Baha’is belonging to the Baha’i faith have been arrested in Karaj.

Human rights organizations reported the arrests.

They were reportedly accused of “propaganda against the system” and “propaganda activities contrary to Islamic laws.”

No further information has been provided about the length of their detention or the conditions in which they are being held.

It should be noted that more than 300,000 Baha’is currently live in Iran, although the Iranian Constitution does not officially recognize the Baha’i faith.

Under a decision by Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, members of the Baha’i faith are considered to be people without citizenship rights in the country.
