On September 18, the IRGC, Basij and police forces will conduct a large-scale joint exercise in Tehran.
The announcement was made by Hassan Hassanzadeh, commander of the IRGC’s Tehran division.
“This exercise is intended to demonstrate to the world the Iranian people’s comprehensive preparedness and determination to confront the enemy,” he said.
The exercise has been described by observers as a preemptive measure against a possible new wave of protests in Iran. Such a new wave of protests has reportedly been anticipated, and its possibility has also been acknowledged by Iranian government officials.
