U.S.-Iran war to enter a new phase in the coming months, Vance says

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance believes that the conflict between Washington and Tehran will enter a new phase in the coming months. Vance made the remarks in an interview with The New York Post.

“We cannot predict the future, but I think the president is right when he says that the situation will be in a completely different phase in a few months,” Vance said.

Vance said the development of the conflict could be divided into two phases, adding that, in his view, “the first phase is over.”

The first phase involved the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program and conventional military forces, as well as the dismantling of the country’s power-projection capabilities that it possessed several years ago.

According to Vance, the main objective of the second phase is to “preserve global stability as much as possible” and prevent Iran from rebuilding its strength.

The vice president stressed that, as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, only President Donald Trump determines when conflicts begin and when they end. Vance also said that the United States is currently “not engaged in aggressive operations.”
