Saudi Arabia intends to launch offensive operations in the coming weeks to retake territory in Yemen occupied by the Ansarullah (Houthi) movement.
Reuters reported the development, citing sources.
“Saudi Arabia is planning an offensive against the Houthis in Yemen. Various options are being considered, including a coastal assault or an attack on multiple fronts, to ensure safe navigation in the Red Sea,” the sources said.
According to Western diplomats and regional sources, the operation is expected to begin in the coming weeks. It is reportedly expected to be carried out by the Yemeni army with support from the Saudi Air Force.
It is noted that Saudi Arabia’s other allies will not participate directly in the fighting.
