Amirhassan Akbari Monfared, a 27-year-old political prisoner held at Evin Prison in Tehran, is facing execution.
Human rights organizations reported the development.
According to the reports, Branch 41 of Iran’s Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
He was accused of membership in the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and moharebeh (“waging war against God”).
Amirhassan Akbari Monfared, his father, brother, and sister were arrested in Karaj last winter. Although his family members were released on bail some time later, serious charges were brought against him, and he remained in detention.
