US Vice President JD Vance said Friday that he and President Donald Trump share a common position on the use of military force, as questions continue over Washington’s potential next steps in Iran.
Speaking with Sean Spicer in an interview at the White House, Vance stressed that any military operation must serve a clearly defined purpose.
“The President of the United States and I are very much aligned on how we think about military action,” Vance said, explaining that military force should be used only to achieve a specific objective.
He cautioned against entering a war out of anger or frustration, arguing that any operation must advance a broader strategic interest of the United States.
Vance added that Trump is determined to avoid conflicts that drag on indefinitely. He said the administration’s approach is to achieve its military objectives and withdraw rather than remain engaged in a prolonged war.
“If we’re going to do something, we’re going to accomplish the mission and come home,” Vance said.
