Lake Urmia currently holds 2.55 billion cubic meters of water, ten times more than during the same period last year, according to the West Azerbaijan Regional Water Company.

The company reported that the lake’s water level has risen to 1,270.59 meters, while its surface area has expanded to 1,946 square kilometers.

According to the report, sufficient rainfall and the management of water releases from dams have helped compensate for the sharp declines recorded in previous years.

Lake Urmia’s estimated maximum ecological capacity under its historical ideal conditions was approximately 30–32 billion cubic meters of water, with a surface area of around 5,000–6,000 square kilometers.
