New hijab rules for universities will be announced soon. Intensive meetings with higher education institutions have led to the preparation of a joint text on the issue.
The Iranian Ministries of Science and Health announced this.
Saeed Karimi, deputy head of the cultural affairs department of the Representative Office of the Supreme Leader in Universities, commented on the matter:
“After the implementation of the existing rules, we will no longer see in universities the bitter scenes related to women without hijab that we have witnessed in the streets.”
Unofficial reports indicate that the new rules will involve stricter enforcement of mandatory hijab requirements for female students at universities.
