Hormuz Oil Flows Recover — WSJ

Crude oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have recovered significantly since the war began, reaching roughly three-quarters of their previous levels. However, the flow of refined fuels such as diesel remains severely constrained, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Data from Kpler cited by the newspaper shows that the seven-day average of crude oil shipments through the strait stood at 10.3 million barrels per day as of Saturday, equivalent to about 76% of pre-war levels.

By comparison, shipments of refined products, including gasoline and diesel, were only around 1.3 million barrels per day. These products now account for approximately 11% of total oil shipments through the strait, compared with more than 20% before the war.

The continued shortage of refined fuels is being linked to disruptions at refineries across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and other countries. Several facilities remain out of service following missile attacks and other war-related disruptions, limiting the production and supply of diesel and other refined fuels despite the recovery in crude oil flows.
