U.S. President Donald Trump faces a difficult choice over Iran: resume military strikes, seek a deal with Tehran, or continue applying economic pressure.
The report was published by Axios.
According to the publication, Vice President JD Vance is among those advocating for reaching an agreement with Iran.
Sources familiar with the matter, however, say Trump is leaning towards resuming military strikes.
U.S. officials told Axios that the military has completed preparations for a possible resumption of large-scale military operations against Iran. These preparations also include the deployment of additional military forces and assets to the region.
According to Axios, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and other advisers favour maintaining the U.S. naval blockade and continuing the economic pressure campaign to increase pressure on Tehran.
