The new satellite photo of the lake has been released, countering the claims that the Iranian government has taken measures within the framework of the Lake Urmia restoration project and that water has been released from dams into the lake.
This was reported by the “Support Campaign for Urmia Lake”.
In the photo, it is noted that there is a tiny revival in the Littoral zone (shallowest part) of the lake, which happens every year as a result of seasonal rainfall in autumn and winter.
It should be noted that the normal ecological water volume of Lake Urmia should be 30 billion cubic meters, and the minimum ecological area should be 4635 square kilometers.
However, currently the area and water volume of the lake is 5% of the mentioned normal ecological condition.
