US President Joeseph Biden has extended the state of emergency against Iran for another year.
This was reported by White House.
US President said that Iran’s actions and policies remain an abnormal and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy and economy of the US.
In the statement of White House Executive Order 12170 was referred to, which was passed on November 14, 1979.
The Executive Order 12170 was issued during the presidency of former US President Jimmy Carter and 10 days after the occupation of the US Embassy in Tehran.
On November 4, 1979, the US Embassy was occupied by extremist "Hezbollah" students affiliated with the mullah regime known as "followers of the Imam line".
American diplomats held captive for 444 days in the Embassy. After the agreement signed in Algeria in 1981, in order to release the captives, the diplomats returned to their homeland.
The “State of National Emergency” regime was imposed against Iran on November 14, 1979, 10 days after the occupation of the US Embassy. Since then, US presidents have annually extended the state of emergency and kept the sanctions against Iran in force.
