That Iranian-backed terrorist group is based in Bahrain, and 4 high-ranking officials who have been sanctioned have settled in Iran.
It was reported that their identities are Hussein Ahmad ‘Abdallah Ahmad Hussein Al-Dammami (Al-Dammami), Ali Abdulnabi Ahmed Ebrahim M. Alshofa, Hasan Ahmed Radhi Husain Sarhan and Isa Saleh Isa Mohamed Salman (Salman).
The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said in a statement that those individuals are financing the Al-Ashtar Brigades, terrorist group.
The USA designated Al-Ashtar Brigades as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2018.
Brian Nelson, the Ministry's Deputy for Terrorism and Financial İnformation, said this on March 12: "With the cooperation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, today's sanction is an indication of our joint commitment against threats to stability by Iran."
According to the statement, İran acts as a shelter for terrorist groups.
It should be noted that Al-Ashtar Brigades and Al-Mukhtar Brigade groups operate mainly in Bahrain as proxy forces organized by SEPAH (Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps).
