At the moment of arrest, Mr. Hajizadeh, aware that the Ministry of Intelligence has previously used the contents of citizens’ mobile phones to fabricate cases against them, attempted to destroy his phone. After his arrest, the agents transferred him to the Salmas Intelligence office. During interrogation, he was subjected to severe physical torture for refusing to provide answers in line with the interrogators’ demands.
According to informed sources, the agents kicked the chair Mr. Hajizadeh was sitting on, causing him to fall to the ground, which resulted in serious injuries to his head and other parts of his body. He required eleven stitches to his head.
Although this Azerbaijani citizen was released later that same night, the agents threatened him that if he publicized the incident, he would face even harsher consequences. He is currently receiving medical treatment, and concerns persist over continued security pressure on him and his family.
Furthermore, two days later, on the 20th of Khordad (June 10), intelligence agents removed and confiscated surveillance cameras from the homes of Hossein Hajizadeh’s neighbors, in an apparent effort to prevent identification of the agents and disclosure of arrest details.
These actions reflect the extrajudicial, violent, and repressive conduct of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s security apparatus toward Azerbaijani Turk citizens.
