The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has passed a resolution condemning the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear activities. The resolution, introduced by Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, was approved with 19 votes in favor, 11 abstentions, and three votes against, cast by Russia, China, and Burkina Faso.

This marks the third resolution passed by the IAEA Board against Iran in the past three years. The previous resolution, adopted in November 2024, also received 19 votes in favor, with 12 abstentions and 3 opposing votes.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei strongly condemned the move, accusing the United States, France, Britain, and Germany of politicizing the IAEA Board. He labeled the resolution as “baseless, unjustified, and oppressive.”

Baghaei stressed that Iran would take appropriate measures to defend its nuclear interests and held the resolution’s sponsors responsible for its consequences.

Meanwhile, Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB announced that Tehran plans to replace first-generation centrifuges at the Fordow nuclear site with more advanced sixth-generation models and to establish a new uranium enrichment facility in a secure location.

The resolution states that Iran has violated its safeguards obligations by stockpiling highly enriched uranium and restricting inspectors’ access. It calls on Tehran to immediately resume full cooperation with the agency.
