Hadi Ahmadi, head of the Union of Pharmacists of Iran's general relations department, objected to the health organization's decision to determine drug quotas for pharmacies based on hijab observance.
It should be noted that Seyed Heydar Mohammadi, Chairman of the Food and Drug Organization of Iran's Ministry of Health, warned pharmacies on May 7 that drug quotas would be set for them based on employee and applicant hijab observance, and that if the hijab was not observed, the pharmacies would be sued.
Hadi Ahmadi, director of the Pharmacists Union of Iran's general relations department, criticized the health institution's decision and stated that the country is experiencing a medicine shortage.
"Our issue is not a lack of hijab in pharmacies, but a lack of medications. Our problem is that the relevant state insurance institutions have not paid their debts to pharmacies, among other issues. The pharmaceutical industry requires cash right now, but we do not have enough money in our account to purchase and import drugs. "This is the problem," Ahmadi emphasized.
The head of the Union of Pharmacists also chastised authorities dealing with hijab for issuing hijab-related instructions to health institutions. "Our issue is the involvement of non-health authorities in the health sector. We do not have any other problems."
