Iran currently has a teacher shortage of 176,000, which will increase to 248,000 by the start of the current academic year due to the retirement of an additional 72,000 teachers.

Babak Nigahdari, director of Iran's "Majlis" research center, stated this.

He highlighted the fact that the government owes a large sum to teachers and education workers in terms of labor and pensions, and predicted that the country's teacher shortage would worsen in the near future.

It should be noted that in recent years, tens of thousands of teachers have been forced to leave the field due to wage stagnation and late payments.

Teachers and retired education workers have been protesting against violations of their rights for several years now.
