Iran targets journalists living abroad

The Iranian regime is targeting Iranian and Iranian-born journalists, as well as employees of Persian-language media outlets in other countries.

Irene Khan, Bangladesh's UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Freedom of Opinion and Expression, stated this.

In her report to the UN General Assembly on May 22, she stated that in recent years, a large number of journalists have been forced to flee their home countries in order to avoid political repression and save their own lives.

"However, they frequently faced physical, digital, and legal threats, as well as danger during migration," Irne Khan explained.

It is worth noting that, according to international organizations, Iran has one of the world's largest prisons for journalists.
